You’ll spend plenty of quality time at the controls on this weekend, but there’s a lot more to being part of a fully-trained battle crew:
Our listed centres have experts who will train you in basic fieldcraft skills, how to strip a machine gun, essential vehicle maintenance and more. You’ll even spend the night in the school’s barracks with your fellow team members.
When you do take your place in the driver’s cabin, though, you’ll have an excellent appreciation of the workings of your tank and will be in a position to get the best from the intensive tuition you’ll receive.
The driving instruction uses simulated combat conditions just like those used to train the professionals: That means knowing how to deal with minefields, suspect IEDs, enemy personnel and more, and by the end of your training you’ll know how to negotiate the lot.
This weekend isn’t for lightweights, but if you’re up to the task you’ll enjoy real camaraderie and earn respect from your peers and tutors alike whilst discovering new skills you didn’t even know you possessed.
