We have an interesting mix of British and American military vehicles: An Alvis Stalwart 6X6 Amphibious Truck; a 434 Tracked REME Vehicle; an Abbot Self-Propelled Gun; a 432 armoured personnel carrier; an SAS Land Rover and a Reo 6X6 truck.

We can cater for parties or individuals (Selected days only). An Ideal Christmas or Birthday present - vouchers available. Corporate and fun days organised.

The Vehicles

The Abbot Self-propelled gun was built in the early 1970's. It weighs 18 tons and is powered by a 240hp Leyland K60 Diesel engine.

The Alvis Stalwart was designed as an all terrain load carrier. It is amphibious and is equipped with constant 6 Wheel Drive. It is powered by a Rolls Royce B81 8 cylinder 180Hp engine.

The 432 is an armoured personnel carrier which weighs in at 15.3 tons and is powered by a 240hp K60 diesel engine. Although production ceased in 1971, around 1,500 of these battleground taxis are still in service.

The 434 is a Maintainence and fitters' vehicle weighing 14 tons. The hydraulic crane can lift 3 tons and was used by REME to repair main battle tanks.

An American 2½ ton 6 Wheel Drive truck with a turbo-charged White Multifuel engine, the Reo was used in Vietnam.

Full Monty Tank, 6x6, and 8x8 at Galloway Tanks

You will be kitted out in camouflaged suits and given a safety briefing before being taken down to the site in the 6 wheel drive truck. You will be split into 2 groups before having your 1 drive around tank course of approximately 15 minutes followed by at least 30 minutes as a passenger with other Tank Commanders driving, then you will drive the 6 x 6 Stalwart around a different course and have passenger runs with other Stalwart drivers. Just to finish off your day, you will drive the Argocat 8 x 8 round its own course.
